Martin is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) with over a decade of experience working with individuals with disabilities. His experience ranges from direct care of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities to transition planning for high school students. As a certified special education teacher, Martin has experience writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEP), Behavior Improvement Plans (BIP), and consulting with parents and students to address vocational needs. Martin has achieved the designation of Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist (CVE) from the Commission on Rehabilitation Certification. As a vocational consultant, Martin has provided assessments under the Defense Base Act. He is also contracted to provide vocational evaluations for state vocational rehabilitation agencies in Florida and Kentucky. He is a current member of the Advocacy/State of Vocational Evaluation Committee within VECAP. He is also a former conference presenter for NAMRC.

Martin has over 5 years of experience managing a team of behavioral consultants providing services across the state of North Carolina. In addition to managing consultants, he has facilitated behavior consultations and trainings for families, caregivers, and educators. This experience, along with a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling, has provided him with a wealth of knowledge in the field of vocational rehabilitation. Working directly with individuals with disabilities, paired with educational experiences, has afforded him the opportunity to combine education, disability advocacy, and vocational assessment. From that vision, The Aptitude Network was created.

In addition to his work as a counselor, Martin has a passion for working with youth that developed during his 14 years in special education. He is currently a varsity basketball coach at a local high school. As a result, he is connecting his passion for athletics and his work as a mental health counselor. Martin is credentialed in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate. Within this facet of counseling, Martin specializes in working with youth and young adults who struggle with the pressures of athletic expectation, performance, and the balancing act of school and sports. He uses over a decade of athletic coaching experience and counseling expertise to assist athletes navigating the physical and mental aspects of performance.
